The Door
News-time debates are hilarious! We constantly hear different people supporting different political ideologies, not talking but screaming and shouting about the dos and don’ts, the whats and what-nots, in a prime-time debate. And the news channels spice things up for better ratings. This constant ranting has made life so unbearable that my ears shout back at me to relieve them from this mess.
Well, debate noise is my usual background score when I’m at home. My mother and grandmother have long conversations about the topics discussed in these debates on most evenings. One day, unexpectedly, I got to sit with them in their debate hall. I was busy scrolling through my phone, but my ears were left open to the background noise.
Lying on the sofa, I was least interested in the news channels going live on TV. As usual, my mother and grandmother were glued to the screen. While I was all set to put on my scornful attitude, I got stuck on a flash news update. It was about the door!
The door- the enigmatic door that had been bound by superstition and traditional beliefs for various reasons, the one that was not allowed to be opened as it was said to be the precursor to massive destruction- was going to be opened for the very first time after centuries. Definitely worth the hype! But I got confused. Isn’t it restricted? Yeah, maybe due to a court order. Anyway, the media barged inside the room to witness and capture the event.
With a loud creaking sound, the door opened. The instant it opened, a sudden gush of water washed in, drenching everyone standing outside. Near the doorstep, it looked like a pool of water, and a flash of godly light emerged through the doorway. On the doorstep, beneath the pool of water, lay a mighty sword, glittering in gold and reflecting its aura throughout the entire area.
Suddenly, the recitation of heavenly notes could be heard. Everyone stood still, not knowing what was happening around them or what was going to happen next. Seeing and hearing all this pushed me into thinking about the consequences of what might happen next.
And then something unusual and unexpected happened.
A curtain rolled down.
And I woke up from my sleep!
